Getting Older

Last week Connor turned four. He is so proud of his accomplishment.

"I'm four now," I overheard him tell a friend. "And next I'm gonna be FIVE! And then six. And then seven. When I'm seven I'll be REALLY OLD!"

He says that frequently, as if seven is a magical age.

"Do you know how old Mommy is?" Lee asked him.

He shook his head.

"Mommy's thirty! She's really old, isn't she?!"

Connor looked amazed. For a second it seemed as if he were trying ot figure out how to count that high. Then he turned to me and said "You're not old, Mommy. You're new."
