At lunch, after I gave Connor a glass of water, he informed me he would rather have milk. So I complied. And naturally he decided he didn't like the milk.
"Well, you're not getting anything else to drink until you finish this milk," I told him. "I am tired of you wasting food."
"That's not fair!" Connor said.
I ignored him. He decided to try another tactic.
"How would you feel," he began. "How would you feel if I gave you apple juice, and then you said "I don't want apple juice, I want kool-aid." So I gave you kool-aid. How would you feel if you didn't want the kool-aid?"
Slightly confused, I said, "Well, I guess I would feel like I didn't appreciate the kool-aid even though I asked for it."
"Well that's how I feel!" Connor said emphatically.
"Like you don't appreciate the milk?"
"Yeah, I don't appreciate the milk!"
